Stephanie and Florian met during December 2020. Florian was working part-time as a masseur in a beauty salon which Stephanie visited. Rose and Jessie who own/work at the salon knew they were both single and thought it an idea to match-make. Stephanie was booked in for a massage so she could meet Florian and decide if she may want to invite him for a coffee outside of work. Florian who was completely unaware of what was going on thought Stephanie was just a customer booked for a massage. Stephanie being her true German self, during the massage asked Florian a multitude of questions. At one point Florian suggested Stephanie would enjoy the massage more if she didn't talk so much! Little did Florian know that Stephanie was actually interviewing poor Florian. It took several days for Florian to pluck up the courage to message Stephanie and invite her for a walk. Unbeknown to Stephanie, during this time their text exchanges were going via a third party! Florian wasn't confident enough in his English, so, sent his messages to Anda (Florian's daughter) to translate, until Stephanie taught Florian how to use Google Translate.​ Florian's Romanian family and friends in Canterbury welcomed Stephanie with open arms and soon made her feel part of their community. In return Stephanie introduced Florian to all her family which included many siblings, nephews and niece and this was just the UK side of the family. There were still more to meet in Berlin. But all were over the moon that both Stephanie and Florian had found happiness together. Their relationship grew quickly. Stephanie encouraged Florian to try a broader variety of cuisines whereas Florian taught Stephanie back-gammon. Both are avid game players, as anyone who visits knows that you cannot stay without playing a few rounds of Romanian Whist.
